Learn MoreStaff is great. Whole procedure went quickly and smoothly. Waited a little longer than I was originally told I would and only bugged me a little because I really wanted a drink of water!
The Friday morning of the upper endoscopy, the IV was placed on the third try. I am rarely poked more once and have pretty easy to find veins. Unfortunately, due to my oxygen levels falling low after going under general anesthesia they were not able to do the upper endoscopy. I got sore throat and uvular necrosis (either due to coughing or suctioning) which within the following two weeks worsen before getting better. My procedure was scheduled for a Friday morning, a check up call that evening would have been appreciated. I had throat pain and felt my uvula touching my throat and tongue. The following Monday, the call back nurse I spoke with was not sympathetic. On the fifth to eighth day post failed procedure, swallowing saliva or any soft foods stung and burned my throat. I was not able to get an appointment until nine days later (which I didn’t go to because I was better). It was a very painful experience but all resolved itself by the fourteenth day. Since I am obese cardiologist have suggested to avoid general anesthesia when possible but this was suggested after I told them about my edg experience. I was not given any other options at the Endoscopy Center. I would have complied with local anesthesia if given the option. My new cardiologist suggested I should have a pulmonary function test which might help us figure out why my oxygen levels were going down. My Gi doctor didn’t suggest anything other than rescheduling the procedure at the hospital. This should have been an uncomplicated out-patient procedure but due to my experience I no longer wish to continue care here.
Very professional procedure was on time and fast.
